On September 26, Eli, James, and Dr. Zhang attended the 2026 Walk ALS Utah, hosted by ALS United Rocky Mountain at Sugar House Park. It was another great opportunity for our lab to connect with members of the ALS community, including patients, families, clinicians, and others supporting people living with ALS.
This year, we also brought a neck brace currently being developed in our lab and had the opportunity to introduce the device to patients at the event. Their firsthand feedback on the design and potential use of the brace was extremely helpful and provided valuable perspectives that will help guide our continued development of the device.
We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in Walk ALS again this year and to learn directly from the ALS community. Experiences like this remind us of the importance of involving patients throughout the development of assistive technologies and ensuring that our research addresses their real-world needs.
